Social meetings at the International Golf Society of Marbella and the Costa del Sol
Join in some of the many IGS special events organised throughout the year. The items listed here are
just some of the events planned for the near future, or memorable events from the past year.
The world-famous RAC Golf Club of Epsom, England returns to play
an annual series of matches with the IGS match team. The
golf matches, which are now a regular feature in the IGS autumn calendar,
are coordinated by IGS founder-member David Hartley. They have
provided an exciting competitive atmosphere in past years, and we
are hoping for the same this October. If you want to be considered
for selection for the IGS match teams, call us on +34 620 722 235
Annual Christmas dinner and the Ernie Parsons
Trophy match. Every year IGS meets just before Christmas to
hold a year-end tournament, which last year was dedicated to one of
the Costa del Sol's golfing legends - Ernie Parsons. Ernie famously
got a hole-in-one whilst playing with Tony Jacklin on the coast, and
was a regular playing partner with many celebrities in his heyday.
An excellent Christmas dinner and prize giving followed a great day
at Los Naranjos Golf course.
New Years Eve Tournament. To finish off
the old, and start the new, IGS holds a New Years Eve Special
Golfing event. December 31 2006 saw over 25 players coming together
in a well-organised golf day at the fabulous Finca Cortesin Golf
course near Manilva, Estepona. Stay tuned for details of this year's
match - click here to view the current competition list, or call +34 620 722 235 for details
"Away-days" to Jerez & Cadiz, Feb 2007.
A fantastic weekend of golf was held for IGS members at two new
courses on the south- west coast of Spain, starting with a Texas
scramble at the Sherry GC Tour Championship Golf course in Jerez, a
sherry tasting at the renowned Fernando Castillo bodega, a great
dinner at a local restaurant, followed by a Stableford competition
on Sunday at the Villa Neuva course in Cadiz. We look forward to our
next Away-Day !
